Peace, but only short-lived for war comes again in 1998


Dayton Agreement 1995 is only a partial success because largely of Milosevic, who continues to be backed by The West despite internal Serb opposition


1998 Civil War breaks out in Kosovo, still linked to Serbia. NATO Forces are deployed to keep the peace but ethnic cleansing continues apace


1999 UN takes over in Kosovo but revenge attacks by Kosovan Albanians continue

NATO bombing of Belgrade.
